§ 2-267. Lake Murray-Irmo Woman's Club.

  • The Lake Murray-Irmo Women's Club founded the Okra Strut as a fund raising endeavor to build a public library. Following the completion of this project the festival had become too large for the club to manage. An agreement was reached whereas the Town of Irmo would assume the responsibility to manage the festival. To honor the Lake Murray-Irmo Women's Club for their founding of the Okra Strut and for their continued charitable work in our community, the following allowances and stipulations will be in place:

    (1)

    The Lake Murray-Irmo Women's Club retains the exclusive right as the sole provider of fried okra during the annual Okra Strut Festival (within the festival site).

    (2)

    The Lake Murray-Irmo Women's Club will not be charged any participation fees and allowed to keep 100 percent of revenues earned from their two booths in the Okra Strut.

    (3)

    The Lake Murray-Irmo Women's Club will be permitted to select the location of their choice for the sale of fried okra during each Okra Strut Festival.

    (4)

    The Lake Murray-Irmo Women's Club will be allowed a voting seat on the Irmo Okra Strut Commission. Recommendations will be approved by the commission and forwarded to town council for appointment.
