§ 14-161. Lands to which this article applies.

  • (a)

    In accordance with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) standards as outlined in NFIP regulations, 44 CFR 59 and paragraph 60.3(d); this article shall apply to all areas of special flood hazard within the jurisdiction of the Town of Irmo as identified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in its Lexington County Flood Insurance Study, dated July 5, 2018 and the Richland County Flood Insurance Study dated December 21, 2017.

    Upon annexation any special flood hazard areas identified by FEMA in its Flood Insurance Study for the unincorporated areas of Lexington and Richland Counties, with accompanying map and other data are adopted by reference and declared part of this article.

    (b)

    Requirement of federal and/or state permits. Review proposed development to assure that all necessary permits have been received from those governmental agencies from which approval is required by federal or state law, including section 404 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972, 33 U.S.C. 1334.
