§ 12-7. Manner of filing.

  • Filing period shall be 15 days. By at least 12:00 noon on the 60th day prior to the date of the holding of the election, or if the 60th falls on a Saturday, by 12:00 noon on the following Monday, candidates must file with the election commission their statements of candidacy. Such statement must contain the following:

    (1)

    The candidate's name and address;

    (2)

    The number of his valid state voter's registration certificate;

    (3)

    An affirmation that he is a resident of the town and at least 18 years of age;

    (4)

    A designation of which office he is seeking; and

    (5)

    His signature to confirm that all of the supplied information is correct. No person may file for both the offices of mayor and council member.
