§ 3.11. Sidewalks.

    Where required. Sidewalks are required on at least one side of all internal streets and on the subdivision side of all adjacent or perimeter streets in accordance with the Town of Irmo Sidewalk Plan, except in single family residential subdivisions with a density less than one dwelling unit per acre. Reverse frontage lots shall have sidewalks provided on both street frontages.

    Design specifications. Sidewalks shall be placed parallel to streets, with exceptions permitted to preserve natural features or to provide visual interest where required for pedestrian safety.

    3.

    Construction specifications.

    (a)

    Sidewalks shall be installed in compliance with all federal, state and local specifications and standards (including ADA) in effect at the time of construction.

    (b)

    Graded areas shall be planted with grass or treated with other suitable ground cover.

    Installation requirements.

    (a)

    A system of sidewalks approved by the zoning administrator shall be installed in accord with a schedule of installation also approved by the zoning administrator, prior to the issuance of any building permits.
